Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing plant machinery, equipment, and facilities. 


Primary Role and Responsibilities

  • Must perform all tasks in accordance with our EMP employee handbook.

  • Must perform all tasks in accordance with our ISO 9001:2015 quality system procedures. 

  • Must communicate with other personnel on related issues during the course of your shift. 

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment problems/failures and identify problems on injection molding equipment and provide corrective actions.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and unscheduled maintenance as needed and as they relate to equipment failures or facility issues in a timely fashion. 

  • Proactively identify and perform new maintenance tasks.

  • Repair and maintain building, grounds, and facility.

  • Maintain maintenance records.

  • Work to improve conditions, workplace layout, and increase efficiency.

  • Advise management when procedures are not adequate and need review.

  • Put safety first, which includes always following all OSHA safety standards.

  • Perform other technical duties as required/assigned.


Secondary Role and Responsibilities

  • All other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
  • This position’s responsibilities are covered by the Maintenance Manager when absent.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must be able to read, understand, speak, and write English at a 12th grade level.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.
  • Must be certified to drive a forklift. Training is available.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a working knowledge of injection molding operations and maintenance practices.  Sumitomo and/or Cincinnati Milacron experience preferred.
  • Must have excellent electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and system controls troubleshooting experience.
  • Must be able to interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have good math, communication, and computer skills.
  • Five or more years of hands-on maintenance in a plastic injection molding or other type of manufacturing operation preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Dexterity and accuracy as needed to operate testing equipment or gauges.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts on a continuous seven-day work cycle.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. and walk from press to press throughout an 8-hour shift.
